Student Accessibility Service
Any student enrolled at UC who has adisability, medical condition, specific learning difficulty, mental health condition or a temporary impairment that affects their ability to studyis eligible to register withTe Ratonga Whaikaha|Student Accessibility Service.
Special arrangements may involve:
- Using a reader and/or writer
- An extension of time
- Wheelchair accessible rooms
- Use of a computer
- Ergonomic furniture etc.
- Exams in alternate formats
Students enrolled with Te Ratonga Whaikaha will have their special arrangements for exams automatically organised. Any student who requires special arrangements will sit their examination in a room separate from the main cohort. The special arrangement room is confirmed in the Final Timetable emailed to students on the day lectures end.
If a student decides not to or cannot sit in the special arranged room, they must contact the Special Arrangements Coordinator (examinations@canterbury.ac.nz) in advance or as early as possible.
How to apply
To apply for special arrangements for examinations, you must register withTe Ratonga Whaikaha|Student Accessibility Service.
For further information, or, if you decide not to or cannot sit under the special conditions arranged contact theExaminationsSpecial Arrangements Coordinator examinations@canterbury.ac.nzin advanceas early as possible.
Temporary impairments or temporary medical conditions
If a student has a temporary impairment or medical condition in the lead up to tests/examinations and they believe they need special arrangements, contact Te Ratonga Whaikaha. If it is 5 working days (or less) prior to the assessment, please apply forSpecial Consideration.
Internal assessments
If students require special arrangements for internal assessments (tests/quizzes etc.), they must register withTe Ratonga Whaikaha|Student Accessibility Service.
