Cinema Studies

Introduction

Film is a unique medium, in that there are so many ways to tell stories. The cultural impact and influence of cinema over the years has been huge.

This subject will introduce you to the tools and techniques used in film creation. In your classes, you will analyse the structure, cinematic style, and storytelling of films from diverse genres through the lens of theory, history, and culture.

What will my study involve?

  • From the silent era of film to modern day explore the evolution of movies andfilmmaking.
  • Other topics include analysis of scenes, screenwriting, exploration of Mori identity, storytelling for children, and the French New Wave.
  • You can minor in Cinema Studies in many UC bachelors degrees.
