The School of Earth and Environment | Te Kura Aronukurangi has a well-equipped Soil Mechanics Lab with facilities for soil classification and testing of permeability, compaction and strength properties including:
- Direct Shear Shearmatic machine
- Automated oedometer testing for consolidation
- Compaction moulds and extruder
- Constant and falling head permeability
- UCS Compression Tester
- Ring Shear box for residual shear measurement
- Atterberg Limits (Cone Penetration and Casagrande)
- pH, sulphate, conductivity, TDS and temperature meters
- Swell-strain analysis
- Pinhole tests
