The 2025 LSAANZ Conference activities will include plenary keynote panel sessions, thematic parallel panel sessions, an early career researcher workshop, book launches, dinner and cultural events.
The half-day early career researcher workshop will be held prior to the start of the main conference.

Early Career Researcher Workshop
A half-day Early Career Researcher Workshop will be held on 3 Decembre 2025 prior to the start of the main conference. It will provide an opportunity for early and emerging academics and postgraduate students to benefit from training, mentoring, and engagement in sociolegal research methodologies and legal research, writing, dissemination and impact from senior sociolegal scholars. This event will also offer networking opportunities enabling ECRs to build connections with peers and senior scholars.

Conference Venue
The 2025 LSAANZ Conference will be held at the سԹ I Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha in Ōtautahi I Christchurch, New Zealand, bringing the conference to Aotearoa’s shores for the first time in eight years.
Plenary keynote sessions will take place in the Central Lecture Theatre building.
Parallel paper sessions will be located in seminar rooms surrounding the main venue, including Rehua building.

About سԹ I Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha
The سԹ I Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha is located in the takiwā of Ngāi Tūāhuriri hapū of Ngāi Tahu iwi. Ngāi Tūāhuriri and the سԹ signed a partnership agreement in 2019 at Tuahiwi marae to formalise and extend the longstanding relationships between the hapū, including the relationship with Te Rūnanga of Ngāi Tahu, and the University.
The University was founded in 1873 and began its life as a College in the beautiful stone buildings of what is now the Arts Centre. In the 1970s, having become an independent University, it shifted to its current campus having outgrown its original home. It is the second oldest University in Aotearoa New Zealand. It is located on a wonderful purpose-built campus in the suburb of Ilam surrounded by beautiful gardens. The University is a world class research and teaching facility and has a student roll of over 20,000.
