2025 Year One start dates, OSI and orientation
All endorsements - On-campus
- Thursday 13 February, you begin your on-campus course with acompulsory Orientation.This includes an introduction to UC and theFacultyof Education, an introduction to tertiary study and course work. You will also meet other students and staff.
- On your first on-campus day,Thursday 13 February,meet on Ilam campusat 11.45amin the A-blockfoyer, for a Mihi Whakatau.Information about Mihi whakatau, including appropriate attire, can be found on the ourwebsite.
- Your regular timetabled courses begin onMonday 17 February.Yourwill provide confirmed times required for attendance.
- Part-time studentsmust attend all their scheduled classes and this compulsory orientation event.
All endorsements - Distance
- Your programme begins onMonday 10 February - Friday 14 February, withacompulsory OSI.This includes an introduction to UC and theFacultyof Education, an introduction to tertiary study, a compulsory workshop on the Treaty of Waitangi and course work. You will also meet other students and staff. Yourwill provide confirmed times required for attendance.
- On your first day,Monday 10 February,meet on Ilam campus in the Rehua building foyer, level 1 at 11.30am, to register before you prepare for the Mihi whakatau (a formal welcome ceremony). A staff member will direct you from there.Information about Mihi whakatau, including appropriate attire, can be found on the ourwebsite.
- The last activity is scheduled to finish on Friday 14th February by 5pm for distance students.
- Part-time studentsmust attend all their scheduled classes but can attend extra orientation activities offered at UC in their free time.
- Please note: Travel and accommodation costs associated with your OSIs are not included in your course fees. You need to set funds aside to cover these yourself.
Nelson campus students
- Your programme beginsMonday 10 Februarywith acompulsory Orientationto the سԹ,our Faculty of Education and the Nelson programme. This includes an introduction to teaching and tertiary study and course work.
- On your first day, Monday 10 February,please assemble along with your fellow students atFM Block, 145 Collingwood St at 9:00amThe orientation programme will include a Mihi whakatau (welcome ceremony) to the Nelson Centre.Information about Mihi whakatau, including appropriate attire, can be found on our website.
- In early February, you will receive a letter from the Nelson Coordinator with more detailed information about your orientation programme, and the structure of your weekly programme throughout the year.
