Our Graduate Programme is committed to providing a great foundation where you’ll be trained, supported, and mentored along with providing exciting challenges for you to reach your full potential. You will work with passionate members of the Contact Energy team who are excited to share their knowledge of the energy industry with you, we can guarantee no two days will be the same!
Our Graduate Programme commences in February 2024 and is an 18-month rotational programme. Graduates will complete 3 x 6-month rotations across three areas of the business unit they’ll be working in. At the conclusion of the programme, you will transition into a permanent role within the business.
Summer Internships
Our paid Summer Internship is geared toward students entering their 3rd & Final Years of study!
The programme is circa 10 weeks, starting in November 2023 and finishing in February 2024.

MainPower has been distributing electricity to the North Canterbury region for around 100 years. We deliver electricity to over 44,000 homes and businesses via 5,166 kilometres of overhead lines and underground cables, across a geographic area of 11,180 square kilometres. Our network area spans from north of the Waimakariri River, through the Waimakariri and Hurunui districts to Kaikōura.
The MainPower team has approximately 200 dedicated field and office-based staff, spread between three depots in Rangiora (head office), Culverden and Kaikoura.

Through our Tertiary Study Awards MLL supports local students embarking on tertiary study, which we see as an important aspect of growing Marlborough and helping young Marlburians achieve success in their chosen field.
Each year we select one recipient from each of Marlborough Boys’ College, Marlborough Girls’ College and Queen Charlotte College from a selection of candidates recommended by the colleges. Successful recipients receive an annual amount for the duration of their degree, provided specified criteria are met.
When appropriate we also employ tertiary students during the summer holidays.

Network Tasman owns and operates the electricity distribution network in the wider Nelson and Tasman areas, excluding Nelson Electricity's supply area in Nelson city. Our distribution network distributes power to approximately 40,000 consumer connections in an area of 10,800 km2 in the northwestern corner of the South Island. Network Tasman itself is wholly owned by the Network Tasman Trust.

Network Waitaki is a community owned company that has been distributing electricity to the North Otago region for 100 years. We deliver electricity to over 13,500 homes and businesses via nearly 2,000 km's of overhead lines and underground cables, across a geographic area of the Waitaki District centered at Oamaru. Our network area spans south of the Waitaki River, from the alps at Ohau, through to the coast at Moeraki, south of Oamaru.
