UCE Deloitte 90 Minute Case Competition - a fast-paced afternoon of teamwork and creativity!

27 May 2019

UCE was humming with entrepreneurial ideas on Wednesday night with an excited group of students taking part in second UCE Deloitte 90 Minute Business Case Competition for 2019.

HOW TO APPLY

Thomas Reid, Guy Robson, Siddhant Manerkar and Rishi Sharma present their strategic plan for Logikcull.

Last night, four teams of eager students, from a range of disciplines, took on the fast-paced challenge of a 90-minute case. The competition involves analysing an organisations current position, identifying challenges and opportunities, before creating and pitching a strategy to drive the organisation forward.

This case was centred around Logikcull, a US company working to digitise the legal discovery process. Discovery involves sorting through thousands of emails and documents to discover information relevant to litigation. After experiencing success in the legal industry, the business is looking towards other industries such as journalists, government organisations and not-for-profits. The students were asked to develop a strategy for Logikcull which would help it to continue its explosive growth.

An awesome variety of solutions were put forward by the teams, from focusing on discovery in medical records to using the Logikcull technology to help students make the most of their time at university. Ultimately, Winners Consulting lived up to their name and were awarded first place. Their strategy involved focusing on providing a solution for large government departments in the US, starting with the Department of Justice, to enable them to deliver more effectively and efficiently.

UCE holds one 90 Minute Case Competition each term, as well having a team involved in the SDS National Case Competition Series, which holds multiple rounds each year.

Thank you to Deloitte for their support of the Business Case Competition programme.
