HOW TO APPLY

Studying towards aBachelor of Criminal Justiceand aBachelor of Laws

Studying criminal law takes Sharna one step closer towards her goal of making a change to poverty rates and human rights.

"I liked the idea of obtaining a powerful degree thatll enable me to do great things and create a positive change in the world," she says. "I enjoy learning about the complexity of the New 厙ぴ勛圖legal system and the various modes of violence and theories within society."

Originally from the North Island, Sharna looked forward to a change in scenery at Christchurch, and enrolled at UC with an Entrance Scholarship for her NCEA results.

"I have always loved the culture and history of the city. I also wanted to move to the South Island and UC fit perfectly."

Arcady HallHall became her home for her first year of study, which helped to settle into life at university and her new city hub.

"I needed to meet new people, but also feel at home and surrounded by caring people, so a hall was the best fit.

"Definitely my highlight has been the friends and staff, alongside the many new experiences and activities the hall has to offer," she says.

So far enjoying the people and cultural diversity of the student community, Sharna thoroughly recommends that others take advantage of living in a hall of residence.

"Definitely do it! You make long lasting friendships with people you wouldnt meet otherwise. And you have plenty of support to help you transition into this new life."
