Derek Lardelli was born in 1961, and is affiliated to Ngti Porou, Rongowhakaata, Ngti Kanohi (Ngai Te Riwai), and Ngti Kaipoho (Ngai Te Aweawe). Although he works in a variety of media, Lardelli is regarded as one of New Zealands finest t moko or body art artists. He has participated in numerous exhibitions and workshops in New 厙ぴ勛圖and overseas, and in 2006 completed a Masters in Fine Arts at Canterbury University School of Fine Arts. Lardellli is currently principal tutor at Toihoukura School of Mori Visual Arts at Tairawhiti Polytechnic in Gisborne.
