Overview
Kōawa Studios, located at the سԹ in New Zealand’s panoramic South Island, is just ten minutes from Christchurch international airport and one of the most vibrant cities in the country. Kōawa Studios is the first commercial-grade creative technology and screen hub of its kind in the South Island. Complementing Screen Canterbury’s regional screen incentive, Kōawa Studios' facilities include advanced motion capture, virtual production, animation labs, sound recording, mill space, and production facilities. By fostering the next generation of digital creators in partnership with industry, Kōawa is positioning Aotearoa as a global leader in screen and creative technology.
Facilities
Kōawa Studios is a one-stop digital production facility for small to mid-size content productions. Our industry-grade Sound Hub features Neumann 7.1.4 monitoring, Avid S6 consoles, and ADR, foley (coming soon), and voiceover suites for world-class audio sound recording. Additionally, we offer a 14m x 4m virtual production studio and an adjacent greenscreen. With over 11 hectares of purpose-built production facilities and secure on-site storage areas, our in-house technicians and commercial team provide expertise and logistics for films, TV commercials, podcasts, music videos, video production, and digital content creation.

From short term and long term co-location at Kōawa Studios, commercial use of our state-of-the-art facilities, production tenancies, collaboration on student projects, film screenings, student internships, guest lectures and workshops, there is a myriad of ways we partner with industry.
