I am interested in the spatiotemporal trends of landslides in tectonically active regions. My research involves using various dating techniques (absolute dating i.e. radiocarbon, optically stimulated luminescence, cosmogenic nuclides, and morphometric dating i.e. landslide deposit surface roughness) to develop regional 泭landslide inventories with age information in attempt to better understand their primary driving mechanisms. In New Zealand, I will be focusing on patterns of landslides in the southern North Island to better understand the relationship between large landslides and ground motions from nearby crustal and/or subduction zone seismic sources.
